Writing Samples

Writing became a passion of mine early on in high school. I had been writing short stories and keeping journals of events for years, but English I gave me my first opportunity to turn my opinions into an essay for school. By my senior year I was excelling in AP English and writing my own original oratorical speeches to preform at OSSAA speech and debate competitions. I have naturally chosen a career path in communications where writing and speaking are essential skills.

Two of my writing focused classes have their own sections for work completed Persuasive Writing and Advanced PR writing. My internship at Vann & Associates | PR + Marketing also has it’s own page. This section contains my miscellaneous works.

During my time at Oklahoma State I was constantly given opportunities to develop my writing skills. First semester of my freshmen year in Newsroom 101 I quickly realized that journalism wasn’t for me. Rather than force me to do assignments that I struggled with and did not enjoy, my professor allowed me to take a shot at writing press releases instead. Here is the link from the fall of 2011 to the first press release I ever wrote: O’Colly App Press Release.

Fall of 2013 I found myself in my first sports media class with an assignment to interview a peer and write a script fit for television  from the interview. The script can be read here: Broadcast Script.

I completed my capstone course, campaigns, during the fall of 2014. For the class, we completed many small projects that accumulated into one large plan book at the end. During the semester I helped create a campaign for Goodwill’s GoodGuides program, which can be found here: GoodGuides plan book.
